"MINATORE"

This exhibition is the journey of an immigrant from the south and arrived in France in the mining area of Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

It is an expression of his inner journey more than the description of its geographical displacement.

The exhibition traces the various stages, from his flight from Italy's rural poor and the middle of the twentieth century, until his arrival in a modern and mechanized.

The paintings express his fears, anxieties, doubts and, above all his hopes.

The monumental sculptures outdoors, by their technique and materials show the impact of the industrial world and standardized which he confronts his arrival.

And finally, the smaller sculptures, inside, using the same technique and the same materials embody its adaptation to new life.

The exhibition title "Minatore" comes from a Sicilian word which means minor, recalls the Minotaur of Greek mythology.

"Minatore" In my mind, has become a technique with which I carry out works assembled scraps of metal found in the sculpture, and collages (paper, sand, etc..) That integrate with canvas.

This technique uses the flaws, faults, mistakes and bungling beginner, a bit like jazz musicians who create from wrong notes and mistakes of fingered.

"Minatore" if one looks more closely resembles that these miners built shacks in the bottom of their garden they could lay their hands on. "Minatore" is a constant link with the unconscious.

It became for me an inexhaustible source of sculptures and paintings.
